Pödelwitz becomes a "Place of Democracy" and receives a Future Forum funded by the Free State of Saxony

Today, the Minister of State Katja Meier (Saxon State Ministry of Justice and for Democracy, Europe and Equality) ceremoniously handed over the funding decision for the "Future Forum Pödelwitz" as one of the thirteen "Places of Democracy" to the association Pödelwitz hat Zukunft e. V. in the Alte Spitzenfabrik in Grimma.

The aim of the Future Forum Pödelwitz is to create a place for democratic discussion, education and joint planning on the further development path of the village and the region. Using democratic didactic methods and measures, all relevant interest groups are to be brought into a constructive exchange in order to realise a successfully lived and participatory democracy and thus have an influence on the entire region. First and foremost, a functioning network is to be created that enables and promotes the exchange of people with each other.

The Future Forum will offer space for a variety of uses. In addition to organisation of educational and cultural events to promote an understanding of democracy, a regional meeting place is to be developed that can be used for village meetings, round tables and working group meetings for citizen participation. Another goal of the Future Forum is the planning, preparation and implementation of a structural change conference with all actors involved.
